Immersive Experiences for Children and their Parents

Using EBSCOhost (through the Full Sail online library research database) and an online article, identify three to five learning engagement principles based upon your research. Explain in your own words, (150–250 per principle), how immersive learning environments are effective in engaging young students through kinesthetic play, as a comment to this blog. Remember to use proper APA-style formatting for in-text citations and references in your writing.

The River of Grass virtual reality exhibit at The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Miami, FL offers an interactive experience in the ecology of the Florida Everglades. In this immersive, projected tableau, guests interact with the digital environment by imitating animal movements, moving logs to adjust water flow, and shining flashlights to explore and discover the Everglades ecosystem. The exhibit is equipped with surround sound speakers and motion sensing cameras that allow the exhibit to react to guest interaction with the projections on the walls and floor.

Piquing Curiosity

The River of Grass Exhibition at the frost science museum in Miami, Florida, piques the interest of all who visit. This type of motivation comes from the uniqueness of the exhibition and many interactive curiosities that are part of this specialized, interactive experience. The Interactive Everglades Tunnel Exhibit instantly prompts inquisitiveness in its attendees, who wonder what will happen as they touch here or stand there. It is essential to make these exhibits engaging and interactive to create motivation to learn. Curiosity

Visitors of the Interactive Everglades Tunnel Exhibit, namely young learners and their parents, are immersed in a learning environment that awakens curiosity and portrays a sense of adventure. The motivation to learn when one is curious is due to “a perceived gap in knowledge.” (Keller and Deimann, 2018). As young learners experience kinesthetic play and experiential learning (Wild, 2007), they are highly engaged as they interact and even participate in searching for wildlife in the Everglades with oversized flashlights. Learners and parents experience this exhibit at their own pace. Curiosity too is aroused in parents as they wonder how the exhibit was built with lots of interactive capabilities and effective virtual reality.
